Veolia to deliver CHP expansion to London development
The new system, which will be managed by environmental solutions specialist Veolia, will serve homes in the Erith Park development in Bexley, with the apartments designed for energy efficiency in order to comply with Level 4 in the Code for Sustainable Homes, while Veolia’s energy team are tasked with supplying the low-carbon energy, along with collecting data for billing customers and adjusting tariffs.
The firm aims to implement a seamless billing system using Consumer Interface Units (CIU), which also enables the energy centre operators to interact with the customer through a messaging facility, while the current heating network uses individual radial circuits to each apartment building, which has the benefit of keeping high system efficiency during the handover phase.

“It was important that this new scheme used an energy-efficient and sustainable way of meeting CO2 reduction targets and deliver energy security. Effective management of the CHP system and the heat network that serves the homes will provide customers with their heating and hot water needs and at the same time minimise carbon emissions,” he said.
