Trio to join forces in energy efficiency
The trio aims to accelerate progress in energy and operational efficiency with a range of products which will target the areas of commercial real estate, transport, solar energy as well as in data centres.
The companies, who signed a cooperation agreement in Sweden last week, want to reduce costs for a number of industries whilst also benefitting their customers, with the three firms basing their joint venture in the Swedish city Brunnshög.
Energy management in buildings, data collection and client contact and advice will be given by ABB, Ericsson and EON respectively in the commercial real estate sector, whilst in mobility and in solar, the three companies will co-operate to collect and analyse data in order to accelerate innovation and cost-reduction.
The collaboration accompanies EON’s apparent increased focus on renewables, after the firm began a major restructuring process last year which involved transferring its traditional energy generation and trading system to a new company; keeping the existing company as a dedicated renewable energy business.
Fredrik Rosenqvist, E.On’s director of business innovation, believes the transition to sustainable and customer-focused energy solutions will require more collaborative efforts between major businesses.
“ABB and Ericsson are two strong partners and together we have the opportunity to develop new ideas and products that are fully in line with the rapid development in the rest of the world,” he said.
“I am convinced that it will be important for the transition that is happening right now towards more sustainable and customer-focused energy solutions. This transition requires more cross-border partnerships with academia and leading innovative companies”.
