Housebuilder commits to 10 year zero energy bills guarantee

Hopkins Homes has announced a new initiative to offer a 10-year Zero Energy Bills guarantee, becoming the first housebuilder in the UK to do so. This extension of its partnership with Octopus Energy doubles Hopkins Homes’ previous five-year commitment.

The guarantee applies to select eco-friendly properties at the Church View development in Bramford, Suffolk. This initiative aims to provide homeowners with stable energy costs over a decade, addressing concerns about fluctuating energy prices.

The guarantee is supported by “sizeable” upgrades to the battery storage systems in the homes, allowing for increased capacity to store and utilise renewable energy. This enhancement is designed to promote self-sufficiency and sustainability in energy consumption.

Duncan Jackson, MD for Hopkins Homes, emphasised the significance of this industry-leading initiative:

“We are immensely proud to be the first housebuilder in the UK to offer a 10-year Zero Bills guarantee, effectively doubling our previous commitment. This unprecedented move not only delivers cost certainty to homeowners in a volatile energy market but also highlights our dedication to delivering innovative solutions for sustainable living.”

“As the pioneer of this extended guarantee, we believe our initiative will revolutionise how people perceive and live sustainably in their homes across the UK. We are excited to continue exploring innovative solutions that benefit both our customers and the environment, setting new standards for the entire housing industry.”

Nigel Banks, technical director zero bills at Octopus Energy, adds:

“By collaborating with Hopkins Homes, we are setting a new gold standard for sustainable living in the UK. This first-of-its-kind 10-year guarantee not only provides homeowners with unprecedented financial security but also plays a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions.”
