Hoare Lee taken over by US M&E group

UK engineering consultant Hoare Lea has been bought by US firm Tetra Tech for an undisclosed sum.

Tetra Tech will add Hoare Lea and its 900 staff to its 21,000-person-strong global engineering consultancy business. The Pasadena, California-based firm said Hoare Lea’s expertise in low-carbon solutions in the building market would add value to its overall offering.

Tetra Tech has over 20,000 engineers, scientists and specialists in 450 offices worldwide. Its clients include a diverse base of international, US state and local government, US federal government, US commercial, and international clients.

It will be joining Tetra Tech’s High Performance Buildings Group, a global alliance of MEP firms, which consists of Cosentini Associates and Glumac in the US, and NDY in Australia and Asia Pacific.

Tetra Tech chairman and chief executive Dan Batrack (pictured), said: “The addition of Hoare Lea to our High Performance Buildings Group further advances Tetra Tech’s industry-leading sustainable building solutions for our commercial and government clients.”

Hoare Lea, formed in 1862, which is owned by its partners, reported a pre-tax profit of £21.1m on revenue of £90.4m according to its most recent accounts for the year ending 30 April 2020.
