Gavin Dunn appointed as Director of BREEAM

He replaces Richard Hardy, who was promoted to Managing Director of the organisation’s global certification business last year.

Dunn, who joined BRE in April as Director of BREEAM, says he has always been a strong advocate of the standard. He was formerly Group Operations Director at energy certification provider Elmhurst Energy. In his now role, Dunn aims to drive more international growth for the standard.

"BREEAM is a highly adaptable framework which allows for local adaption to bridge cultural barriers," says Dunn. "It is making significant inroads in countries like China where we recently signed an agreement with a Chinese state developer who will apply BREEAM and BREEAM In Use on a multi-billion dollar waterfront development in Shanghai.

"I see these developments bringing benefits not only to BRE but to the broader industry of designers, engineers, and product and materials suppliers in the UK who have the expertise that countries like China could benefit from."

Gavin has a PhD from Cardiff University in the energy performance of buildings and is a fellow of the Association of Building Engineers.
