Energy Assets acquires metering supplier
Energy Assets Group plc has agreed a £2.3m takeover of BGlobal plc, a provider of advanced metering technology to the UK I&C electricity sector.
The transaction means that Energy Assets, the largest independent provider of industrial and commercial (I&C) gas metering services in the UK, will now provide management services for circa 161,000 meters and will retrieve data from circa 152,500 meter points across the combined gas, water and electricity sectors.
BGlobal’s services include the supply and installation of smart electricity meters, meter operator services (MOP), and the ongoing collection and aggregation of energy data (DCDA).
Phil Bellamy-Lee, (right) chief executive of Energy Assets, commented: "This is exciting news for Energy Assets, for our existing customers and for the customers of Bglobal Metering – many of whom are common to both businesses. This transaction enables Energy Assets to expand its presence into the electricity sector and is a significant step forward in the delivery of the group's strategy to offer services across a multi-utility platform."
As a result of the acquisition, Energy Assets will be offering a number of power-related services to its growing I&C customer-base, including:
• meter operator, data collection and data aggregation;
• sub/multi-utility metering;
• energy management;
• web-based energy analytics and tools; and
• electrical load management
The deal reinforces Energy Assets' position as a leading metering services provider and creates wider market opportunities including, for example, extending the group's Siteworks infrastructure design activities into the electricity market.
