Aggreko launches inaugural energy podcast with Formula 1 Head of ESG
27 August 2025
Ellen Jones, Head of ESG at Formula 1 recently joined Dawn Demellweek, director of sustainability & compliance at Aggreko, for an in-depth interview about the journey to net zero as part of a new podcast series, The Current.
Launched this month by energy solutions company Aggreko, the podcast aims to help those working in, or impacted by, the energy transition by sharing stories from inspiring figures across industries. From grid constraints and resilience to navigating net zero targets and remaining competitive, the series covers a range of insightful topics that are designed to inspire cross-sector thinking and encourage wider conversation.
Off Grid but On Track – Putting the Formula 1 energy transition in Pole Position is the first episode of the series. It examines the bold commitment F1 has made to achieving net zero by 2030 and how the organisation will meet that ambitious timeline.
The episode also showcases the technical and logistical innovations behind delivering an energy transition at a global scale, in turn helping other industries to draw parallels and determine the transferability of the F1® energy solutions developed in collaboration with and provided by Aggreko.
Earlier this year, Aggreko was announced as the ‘Official Temporary Power Solutions Provider for Formula 1 and is working closely with the F1® team across Europe to deliver greener, cleaner power to the paddock, pit lane and broadcast areas.
On the podcast, Ellen Jones comments on the project: “The renewable energy transition solution we have in place in our Paddocks across our European events this year really came from the experts on our operational side working closely with Aggreko; and when the experts on both sides get together to say we recognise that there’s a need here and we know we can serve it, it’s easy to co-develop effective solutions.”
Dawn Demellweek joined Ellen to discuss more about the solution and also share Aggreko’s own Net Zero ambitions as outlined in the company’s sustainability framework, Energising Change. Dawn described the challenges the energy transition brings for many businesses and shared insights on Aggreko’s pragmatic approach to helping organisations navigate the transition.
Dawn adds: “It was so refreshing to come together with Ellen and discuss our sustainability journeys. The work F1 is doing is truly inspirational and I’m sure many will take something valuable from hearing Ellen talk about it. Personally, I’m really excited to see The Current finally launch as I know how much planning and consideration has gone into the content to ensure it’s informative and entertaining in equal measure.”
