Platform monitors commercial kitchen energy use

An operational intelligence platform developed by AIREDALE GROUP provides multi-site foodservice operators with equipment-level information on energy consumption and operating behaviour across their commercial kitchens.

The Lighthouse platform can identify unnecessary energy use, including equipment running outside expected hours and differences in operating practices between sites. Airedale says Lighthouse has delivered energy reductions of 4-5% in live quick-service restaurant (QSR) environments, equivalent to savings of up to £10,000 per site annually in some cases.

Its Power Pause functionality allows operators to set and manage equipment start-up and shutdown schedules remotely, helping reduce the time equipment runs when it is not needed.

Lighthouse also supports cross-site benchmarking, allowing operators to compare energy use and equipment performance between locations. It can flag changes in equipment behaviour up to 90 hours in advance, including issues such as incomplete cleaning cycles or refrigeration doors being left open for longer than expected.

Daniel Smith, group marketing director at Airedale Group, comments:

“Reducing energy consumption doesn’t always require new equipment or significant investment. There are often savings to be made simply by understanding how existing equipment is being used.

“Better visibility allows operators to identify unnecessary consumption and make practical changes that, when applied across an entire estate, can add up to significant savings.”
