Maximising energy yield in challenging conditions

Targeting small-to-medium utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) installations, SOLAR EDGE TECHNOLOGIES has launched the SolarEdge TerraMax Inverter in the UK. This inverter is suitable for various site conditions, including ground-mounted installations on sloped or irregular terrains, as well as dual-use applications like floating PV and agrivoltaics. It utilises advanced Module Level Power Electronics (MLPE) to enhance energy yields by addressing module mismatch and shading issues, particularly in bi-facial modules.

Key features include 99% inverter efficiency, the ability for 200% DC-oversizing, and an integrated night-time PID rectifier. The design supports longer string lengths of up to 80 modules, which could potentially reduce cabling needs and balance of system (BoS) costs by up to 50%. Additionally, the system offers high-precision module-level monitoring and PV fleet management, contributing to lower operational and maintenance costs.

The SE330K model is now available for pre-order, with shipments expected to begin in early 2025. ■
