Ensuring continuous operation
The Design Envelope Tango is a dual pump system developed by Armstrong to maintain continuous operation even during maintenance activities. This pump features two motors and two impeller assemblies within a single casing, allowing for one side to be isolated for servicing without disrupting flow or occupant comfort. The latest models come in larger sizes with motor options ranging from 15 to 40 horsepower, capable of handling applications up to 120 litres per second.
This compact pump solution combines built-in parallel pumping with robust performance and reduced installation costs. Because the two rotating devices share a single casing, installation requires less piping. In addition, the Vertical In-Line orientation means the pump is installed in the piping and does not require an inertia base.
Design Envelope technology includes patented Parallel Sensorless operation, increases flow turn-down and provides built-in flow metering for superior flow control. The energy-efficient design is said to reduce operating costs by up to 80% and lifecycle costs by up to 40%. As Tango provides an effective alternative to full duty standby, it can also reduce embodied carbon.
Additionally, it includes the Pump Manager, a cloud-based service that offers analytics and diagnostics to improve HVAC system efficiency.
