Energy Management Training
The endeavour of managing energy resources has existed ever since man discovered fire. Lord Kelvin’s quote made in the latter half of the 19th Century “If you can not measure it, you can not improve it” is often seen as an early step in justifying energy monitoring and the management that follows on from that. Nonetheless, it is a relatively young field, spread across many disciplines, both engineering and non-technical, including financial and legal aspects and a good working knowledge of people. There are many different drivers for organisations to save energy extending the knowledge base required by energy managers still further. This article gives an overview of the factors that influence Energy Managers’ roles and consequently, their training needs.
