CPD: Heat Networks

CPD: Heat Networks

Series 23/Module 01
by Jamie Goth, Goth Energy Management Limited

Heat networks are systems that distribute heat generated from a central source to multiple buildings through a network of insulated pipes. These networks can use various heat sources, including fossil fuel powered boilers; combined heat and power plants; energy from waste heat from incineration or industrial processes; and renewable energy sources. The primary goal of heat networks is to achieve efficiencies in the cost of installation or operation in the provision of heat to multiple users. Economies of scale provide opportunities to reduce maintenance costs and connect to heat sources.
